My Aspire 2 Experience
I was invited along to attend a training and development sessoin called Aspire 2, which was an opportunity I was very excited to be part of. My journey within.
There’s no such thing as a typical day as a Customer Advisor. I wake up in the morning ready for a unique experience in a fast-moving environment. Technology and our products are evolving constantly, just like our team. To keep on top of our game and keep growing, staff learning and development is a huge focus at HTG. Changes are continually taking place to better the skills of yourself and others around you.
I joined the team at Telstra Store Harbour Town in June 2016 and every day has been different, as the Customer Advisor role consists of many challenges and many opportunities. Every day I meet new people from a variety of fields and age groups. My role allows me to learn about all the different lifestyles and necessities people have in their day to day lives. Whether I’m solving customer problems or showcasing new technology, I’m always expanding my knowledge base and communication skills.
The challenges I encounter allows me to improve the knowledge I have already gathered, which leads to more opportunities for me to better the situation for all of my customers. I strive to help every customer I see no matter what the issue, with the aim of resolving every issue by the end of the day. I get to leave customers wanting to come back and establish long-lasting client relationships.
Although personal development and expanding your skillset is vital in making a great place to work, the ultimate criterium is the people you work alongside. If you’re going to spend hours and hours together, it’s important that team members are like-minded people who share the same values. The environment we work in means we are pretty much never out of earshot of one another and are always talking. This is incredibly helpful for the sharing of work-related knowledge and ensuring the team finds the best solution for our customers, as well as building team member relationships.
I have made many long-lasting friendships while working at the Harbour Town Store, and look forward to continuing to grow in this role alongside my workmates. It’s not all work related either. HTG even sponsors us to go out for four nights a year as a team.
