If you want to progress your career, put your hand up!

I have only been a part of the HTG family for a short period of time, however I’ve already made new friends and been provided with career opportunities to grow within the business.

I started my HTG journey in the Helensvale Telstra retail store only a week after graduating Year 12. I had never had a job before as I’d always focused on my studies at school. I knew going into a workplace such as Telstra retail, dealing with customers, selling and resolving problems was going to be a very different and challenging experience for me. Fortunately HTG placed me into a training lab program for my first week with other new staff members, allowing me to gain an understanding of the organization and my new role.

Additionally, I got to spend time on the shop floor shadowing other staff members who were very encouraging and helped me to perform in my new environment. I was even fortunate enough to receive sales training from one of BMW’s best car salesmen, who motivated me to sell in a very unique way. In fact, he motivated me to such an extent I even contemplated why I wanted to go to University as he opened my eyes to the potential in a sales career.

Currently I’ve been working at HTG in Telstra retail since December, 2016. Although retail can be challenging at times, I can honestly say that I truly enjoy going to work because of the team I am part of. I am very fortunate to be a part of a workplace where I can call my colleagues friends.

HTG recently acknowledged that I expressed an interest in data and its relationship within the businesses. I was offered the opportunity to shift workspaces to work and learn under HTG’s business analyst to further my interest and training.  As I also enjoy the Telstra retail store, I have been able to negotiate to work in both areas, two days a week at HTG’s head office with their business analyst and the remainder of my week in retail.

In my new role I have already begun learning and using Microsoft Power BI, a program that businesses utilize to showcase and interpret their data. I have also received an introduction to Structured Query Language (SQL) which is a form of programming language used specifically for the manipulation and management of databases.

I’m about to commence a Bachelor of Actuarial Science at Bond University and the support I have received from HTG has meant I’ll still be able to do some part time work to complement my studies. I’ve made some great friends across HTG and received invaluable training and customer experiences.

There are countless opportunities here at HTG and I simply can’t be more enthusiastic in asking you to apply and join this company.
